On September 18, 2024, a lecture by Dr. Evgenia Krusteva-Blagoeva, a professor at the Department of Anthropology at New Bulgarian University, took place at the "Peyo Yavorov" Regional Library in Burgas. The event, titled "Food: History and Future. Anthropological Narratives," attracted a large audience that filled the hall.
Dr. Krusteva-Blagoeva took the audience on an engaging journey through the millennia-long evolution of food, from primitive methods of acquiring and preparing it to the complexities of modern consumer culture. She explored food not only as a fundamental human need but also as a cultural phenomenon and a social tool. The lecture sparked interest in the role food plays in our daily lives and what the future holds for our eating habits.
Dr. Krusteva-Blagoeva also spoke about the importance of cultural anthropology in understanding humanity and society. The event was moderated by Lyubomir Valkov, a graduate of the Master's program in "Cultural and Social Anthropology" at NBU, who highlighted the practical applications of this knowledge.
